FUTURE
STYLE The 828 provides eight
channels of balanced/unbalanced analog input and output
using 24-bit converters with 105 dB dynamic range. Eight
channels of 24-bit ADAT lightpipe and stereo S/PDIF I/O
provide a grand total of 18 simultaneous inputs and outputs.
Analog inputs one and two are designed for maximum
flexibility. They use Neutrik XLR/TRS combo connectors so
you can plug anything from a microphone to a guitar into the
same jack. If you prefer to use condenser microphones, you
can apply 48-volt phantom power. Each input provides 40dB of
gain with front panel trim knobs. The 828 gives the ability to select an input via software and mix it with the main outputs inside the 828 to create a no latency monitor mix. Because the mix does not have to travel back to the computer, the result is delay-less patch-thru. This mix is sent out the independent main+monitor outs and headphones. You can adjust the patch thru volume relative to the main mix with the front panel monitor level knob. FireWire-based hard disk recording Drivers for Mac & PC - for all popular Macintosh and Windows audio software (ASIO/WDM/Wave drivers). 100% compatible with all host-based effects processing in today's popular audio programs. 24-bit analog converters. CueMix Plus zero-latency hardware patchthru system. Includes AudioDesk full-featured sample-accurate workstation software for MacOS with recording, editing, mixing, real-time 32-bit effects processing & sample-accurate sync. Sample-accurate digital transfers between ADAT digital tape decks and the computer via the ADAT sync port. Eight 24-bit analog outputs on balanced/unbalanced 1/4" TRS jacks Six 24-bit analog inputs on balanced/unbalanced 1/4" TRS jacks Two 24-bit analog inputs on balanced/unbalanced 1/4"/XLR combo Neutrik connectors. Two mic pre-amps with switchable 48-volt phantom power on the front panel. 105dB dynamic range Front panel volume control over monitor input level on main outs. Front panel headphone jack with independent volume control. Front panel signal present LEDs for all analog and digital I/O. Trim controls for all inputs on front panel. Dedicated front panel clock status LEDs. 8 channels of 24-bit ADAT optical input/output. Stereo S/PDIF in/out in
optical and coax formats - ADAT lightpipe and S/PDIF optical
formats share the same jacks and can not be used at the same
time. However, you may use ADAT lightpipe-in and optical
S/PDIF-out simultaneously and the S/PDIF coax I/O and
lightpipe I/O may be used simultaneously. AudioDesk is a
full-featured audio workstation software package for MacOS.
This is not a watered-down "recording-only" version of
another company's software. Instead, the 2408 software
provides features like 24-bit recording and real-time,
32-bit effects processing. The software includes multi-track
waveform editing, sample-accurate placement of audio, a
complete virtual mixing environment with up to 64 stereo
busses, automated mixing, graphic editing of mix automation,
scrubbing, trimming, spotting, crossfades, support for
third-party effects plug-ins (in the MOTU Audio System and
Adobe Premier formats), unlimited digital track bouncing
(including effects and automation), and much more. Motu Using DSP analog modelling, the DarkStar delivers 8-voice polyphony with two oscillators per voice, recreating the 'classic' analog sounds The built-in joystick is assignable to filter frequency and resonance or to oscillator mix and ring modulation. There's pink, white and blue noise generation plus a full MIDI specification and 2 external inputs. Featuring all the essential 'hands-on' synthesizer parameter controls, DarkStar is housed in the familiar Federation BPM FX desktop style case with an optional 19" rack kit available for studio applications. Designing-in an upgrade/conversion path was fundamental to the DarkStar project and to this end, user-fit EPROM conversion kits arenow available. The first conversion kit transforms DarkStar into a fully featured Vocoder. Features Polyphony: 8 Voices Multitibral: 5 Parts. Each part features: Level, Transpose and Note range setting. kits for DarkStar This low-cost optional upgrade kit converts DarkStar into a fully featured vocoder with 5 operating modes. Vocoder mode, featuring 11-band filtering / noise generation, combines an external sound source with a vocal input to create classic vocoder sounds, Internal oscillator mode utilises the on-board oscillators and 'S' detector for true 'robotic' style vocoding. Filter mode can be used to process any stereo signal through the spectrum filter for special sound 'warping' effects, selectable MIDI envelope control making it ideal for guitars/bass/vocals, etc. as well as MIDI instruments. Sequence-coder and Synthesizer modes use the 8-step formant sequencer to control the vocoder filters processing the external sound or internal oscillators. Specific vocoder phrases can be recorded in step-time, each event being set-up by the 11-band frequency filter editor or alternatively, assigned one of 15 pre-set 'vowels' from the sound palette. The installation kit comes complete with EPROM, chip removal tool, front panel overlay and manual. 0266010484 The Kurzweil KSP8 multi-bus signal processor is an 8-channel effects system designed for the professional engineer, producer, or musician who requires high-performance effects, excellent sound quality, and unparalleled real-time control. It has over twice the processing power of KDFX, the effects system found in K2600 synthesizer. The KSP8 extends the arsenal of effect algorithms from KDFX, adding newly developed surround reverbs and many more stereo and mono algorithms. The architecture has enough flexibility and power to process up to 8 channels of audio simultaneously, in mono, stereo, and surround combinations. The 16 available processing units in the KSP8 may be freely shared among up to 8 effect buses. The power, flexibility, and sound of the KSP8 make it a must-have for professional and semi-pro studios, as well as for sound designers in search of exciting new timbres. The Architecture The KSP8 architecture is
elegant, offering a simple, easy to understand structure.
The KSP8 offers algorithms designed for mono, stereo, and
surround applications, with plenty of parameters for
tweaking. From these algorithms, Kurzweil engineers have
crafted effect presets ranging from spacious and gorgeous,
to shocking . Effect presets are easily linked together to
form effect chains on up to 8 buses. Users can fully
customize effect presets and chains and have all the control
they want. Manipulation and automation are a snap using MIDI
or a host of local modulation sources including up to 36
LFOs and 36 envelope generators, with 72 functions available
for combining control sources. Signal Routing The KSP8's flexible signal routing allows inputs and outputs to be wired up freely, and signals can be bused around the system for total control. Each input signal has its own multi-band equalizer and stereo or multi-channel panner. Inputs and outputs can be routed and saved as part of the studio. Effect buses may be routed directly to the KSP8's outputs, or to internal mixdown buses for submixing. The multi-stage metering section allows for metering at 4 points in the signal path, for all 8 channels. Factory Programming The 249 DSP algorithms are used to create over 600 effect presets including lush reverbs, realistic rooms, throaty flangers, dreamy choruses, delays, ruthless distortions, aliasing and chaos generators, rotary speaker and cabinet simulators, Laserverb effects, enhancers, equalizers, a full complement of dynamics processors including multi-band and side-chain compressors, and more. Tempo-based effects such as flangers, panners, filter sweeps and delays can be synced to an internal or external MIDI clock; internal system tempo can be set with the Tap Tempo button. 5.1 Surround Audio The KSP8 includes new algorithms designed specifically for surround processing, including 5.1 surround ambience and reverb, and multi-channel compression. I/O and Synchronization The KSP8 base unit comes with 4 balanced analog inputs and outputs and AES/EBU in and out, for a total of 6 possible channels. An I/O option slot provides a choice of expansion. The KSP8 provides a 48kHz or 44.1 kHz selectable internal master clock, or can slave to an external digital clock. 24-bit precision is maintained on all channels. Interface Design The KSP8 has a handsome new design that offers an easy-to-use interface. It includes a 240 x 64 CCFL backlit display, scroll knob, data entry keypad, and dedicated buttons for navigation and actions. It's fast and easy to get to features and functions such as configuration controls, bus selection, level metering, effect bypassing and a 'Quick Pages' feature allows instant access to the most commonly needed effect parameters. Options and Upgrades Housed in a 2-space rack-mountable chassis, the KSP8 offers an expandable design with user installable I/O option cards. The KSP8 can accommodate one of several I/O options: 4 additional channels of analog I/O, or 8 channels of digital I/O, in Alesis Lightpipe, Tascam TDIF, Kurzweil KDS, or AES/EBU formats. The Alesis Lightpipe, Tascam TDIF, and Kurzweil KDS options provide word clock sync. When fully expanded, the KSP8 can process 8 separate input signals, selected from up to 14 sources. An additional hardware option slot is provided for future growth. As new technology and capabilities become available, the user can update the KSP8's operating system and ROM objects. New OS and object releases may be loaded into Flash ROM from the SmartMedia card or via MIDI. Advanced users may fully customize the ROM objects to suit their specific needs. Remote Control The optional RSP8 offers totally remote operation over all KSP8 functions. The remote offers the same display, navigation and data entry controls as the KSP8. In addition, the RSP8 adds a joystick and 8 knobs to control the KSP8 more efficiently. One RSP8 can control up to 7 KSP8s when used with HUB7, the Kurzweil optional multi-port hub. is a theme for which IBTS-MEDIATECH can - in this
year's edition - boast the partnership of Sony
Broadcast & Professional, whose "Anycast World"
is at the heart of current technological
integration developments. All the MEDIATECH
encounters - at which international speakers will
be taking part - will be organized along highly
application-based lines, almost always through the
discussion of "case histories" which will serve as
starting points for comparisons and more in-depth
analysis.
Forum di IBTS
sulla Comunicazione Digitale coordinato da Maria
Grazia Mattei, MEDIATECH raccoglie e organizza
tutte le manifestazioni congressuali, gli incontri,
le rassegne del Salone milanese. Il programma di
MEDIATECH prevede conferenze su sistemi e
tecnologie, convegni di strategia
politico-industriale, tavole rotonde e seminari,
sessioni tecniche e workshops, meetings aziendali e
congressi professionali con la partecipazione di
relatori internazionali. Gli incontri dell'edizione
2001 saranno attraversati dal fil-rouge
"CROSS-MEDIA AGLI ESORDI DEL TERZO MILLENNIO": una
metafora che vuole indagare convergenze e
collisioni, ponendo in particolare l'accento sui
nuovi codici e sui nuovi "comportamenti"
(tecnologici, di mercato, sociologici) che il
fenomeno in continua evoluzione sta evocando agli
Thursday 4
