Roland R4 4-Channel Audio portable Recorder  euro 1,250 Extended Recording Time with 40GB Hard Disk Drive 4-Channel Portable Recorder for Professional Use Record up to four channels at once. Edit waveforms on the recorder itself. All this plus a compact size and light weight that assure mobility in the field. Equipped with a 40GB hard disk drive, the R-4 can record up to 17 hours at maximum sound quality or up to 58 hours at CD quality. L Terminal for Linking a Digital Video Camera The R-4's L terminal lets you connect a similarly equipped digital video camera to synchronize the camera start/stop while R-4 is recording and playback. Counting the camera's two channels, this configuration gives you a total of six audio channels. 4-Channel Recording The 4 XLR/Phone combo jacks come with switchable phantom power and give you a choice of MONO, STEREO, STEREO X2, or 4CH recording. In addition, a digital input and output is provided. Four-channel recording gives you good flexibility. For example, you can use mics to capture the ambience of a performance hall while using line input to record the performance itself. Or you can record at several different level settings simultaneously. Built into the analog stage, the Limiter helps deliver a stable and reliable recording free of clipped noise from sudden input surges. Built-In Nondirectional Stereo Microphones: the R-4's nondirectional, back electret condenser microphones offer superb transient characteristics and vibration resistance. Pre-Recording Function: when the REC button is pressed, the current material is appended to a buffer that contains recorded material from a few seconds earlier. This helps prevent missed recording opportunities or sound bites/actualitie at the beginning of a recording. Five High-Quality Effects The R-4 lets you tailor the sound during both recording and playback. Built-In Effects: 3-Band EQ Graphic EQ Noise Gate Enhancer Comp & DeEsser 24-bit/96-kHz Resolution Totally uncompressed recording assures good sound quality. Choose 16-bit or 24-bit quantization and a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, or 96 kHz. Save data as WAV files. 40GB Hard Disk Drive Wave Editing Function Just watch the waveform on the LCD as you edit. Scrubbing playback with the shuttle dial lets you set the edit points precisely by sound. Waveform Editing Functions: Trim (Delete) Divide (Split) Combine (Append) Merge (Bounce) Built-In Stereo Speakers The R-4's built-in speakers make it easy to monitor recorded sound without headphones. USB 2.0 Terminal Provides a High-Speed Computer Data Link The USB 2.0 high-speed mode transfers data about 20 times faster than DAT. You can also use the R-4 as a 40GB storage device. Edit R-4 filescan be directly from DAWs and other applications. Advanced Linking with the EDIROL DV-7DL A USB cable is all you need to connect directly to an EDIROL DV-7DL Video Editor and exchange files. Compact Flash Slot The compact flash slot makes it easy to read or write recorded files. You can use compact flash memory to give data to colleagues or to transfer data to equipment not equipped with an USB interface. 2-Way Power Supply The R-4 runs on eight AA batteries or with the AC adaptor.
